SaaS best-of-breed vs. SaaS suites: Who's likely to win?

Posted by: Jennifer York

Here is a great article written by Brian Sommer of ZDNet:

My money is on the Suites

About two months ago, I contacted a number of CIOs from large firms about their recent SaaS (Software as a Service) implementations. One of the things I heard from several of these executives was that they would implement more SaaS products only when SaaS vendors develop more applications. Why? These software buyers want an integrated suite of products and not have a bunch of best of breed SaaS applications that the customer must integrate.
Integration in the SaaS world is different than what one finds in the on-premise world.

SaaS business process management systems close, but not quite there

Original Posting by: Kristen Caretta, Site Editor SearchCIO-Midmarket.com

On the face of it, business process management (BPM) and Software as a Service (SaaS) seem like the ultimate power couple. Each succeeds at bringing more agility and productivity to businesses and business process management systems, and SaaS can make sure resources are deployed efficiently. But integration and some centralized control are key to making BPM as a Service work.

"Due to the nature of our economy, business processes need to be adjusted on a more regular basis," said Jeff Kaplan, founder and managing director of ThinkStrategies Inc., a consulting firm in Wellesley, Mass. "Legacy systems are cumbersome and not designed for that continuous change."
