  • Dreamforce to Showcase How Businesses Can Tap Into the Power of Social, Mobile and Open Technologies to Become Social Enterprises

Cloud computing companies salesforce.com  and Workday, Inc. have announced they will join forces to deliver workforce data to the social enterprise. Workday will deliver two new offerings that will extend data from Workday through salesforce.com's social, mobile and open technologies. The first will enable Workday data to be integrated into Salesforce Chatter -- salesforce.com's secure, private social network for businesses -- to securely share, collaborate and act upon workforce data in real-time. The other will allow customers to create custom applications with Workday data feeds on Force.com, salesforce.com's enterprise platform for building and running employee facing social apps.

Through the partnership, Workday will deliver:

  • Salesforce Chatter and Workday Integration: Workday customers will be able to use Salesforce Chatter to securely share and take action on worker data that resides natively within Workday. This packaged integration pushes traditional Workday business processes, such as approval requests, into a real-time social stream. It also allows real-time enterprise-wide collaboration on topics that cross traditional departmental barriers, such as sales cycles, personnel, payroll, budgeting and spend on company initiatives.
  • Custom Force.com App Leveraging Workday Data: Workday customers, partners and developers will be able to securely pull workforce data residing within their Workday application into Force.com to build custom apps.

iLinc, a leading provider of web and video conferencing announced the
release of iLinc 11.1, a new SaaS‐based solution that simplifies virtual meetings.  Along with the release of iLinc’s core web conferencing solution, the company has also recently released upgrades to their Learning Management System (LMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) integrations.

“With the release of iLinc 11.1, iLinc for Outlook 1.0.4, and iLinc for Salesforce 2.6.0.2, our customers continue to enjoy iLinc’s industry‐leading web and videoconferencing solution while ensuring that related activities, such as session scheduling and joining, are centralized within their 3rd party solutions like Salesforce.com and Microsoft Outlook®” said James Powers, president and CEO.

In addition to the currently available LMS integrations with Blackboard, Mzinga and SumTotal, iLinc will also be releasing their latest integration with Moodle, a free, open‐source web application for producing internet‐based courses. This solution will be released in July of 2011 and be available for implementation in time for the upcoming school year.

Powers says the Moodle integration along with upgrades to the existing suite of solutions positions iLinc as one of only a few web conferencing providers that is truly committed to providing a simple and seamless online collaboration tool. “The integrations and upgrades we’ve developed will undoubtedly give our customers an easy to use out‐of‐the‐box solution for their web conferencing needs. And because of our open SOAP based Web services, many customers continue to develop custom integrations between iLinc and their own proprietary software.”

The partner list shows the calibre of developers and providers who should be coming to this event. They include VMware, Paypal, Adobe, Amazon Web Services and Google. Although Zoho doesn’t get as much attention as Google or Microsoft when it comes to applications in the cloud, the company has been steadily building a following among small to midsize businesses.

Most of that effort has been focused on productivity applications that compete with Microsoft Office, but the company has extended its portfolio of business applications. Most recently, the company added a customer relationship management (CRM) offering aimed squarely at Salesforce.com.

According to Zoho evangelist Raju Vegesna, the Zoho strategy is pretty straightforward. Salesforce.com charges customers a significant premium to use its applications. Zoho has free editions for up to three users, a professional edition that costs $12 a month, and an enterprise version that costs $25 a month.
