OfficeDrop recently posted some pretty interesting data we learned after we launched our first desktop application, the ScanDrop scanning software. Turns out we got some pretty interesting data on which scanners were most likely to be used by cloud computing users.
While I can't claim that this is an overall perfect representation of scanner market share by cloud computing users, the data is pretty cool. We found that:
OfficeDrop Data Reveals Cloud Computing Users Prefer Fujitsu ScanSnap and HP Scanners
As our CEO said, "When we examined the configuration data, we realized that Windows OS users who connected their scanners directly with their Google Docs accounts were most likely to be using one of Fujitsu's popular ScanSnap scanners," said Prasad Thammineni, OfficeDrop CEO. "HP's Scanjet line followed, but had about a 10% lower market share."
ScanDrop is a free scanner software, available for download in the Google Apps Marketplace, that connects users' personal scanners and allows them to scan paper directly to the cloud via Google Docs. ScanDrop works on Windows OS computers and is compatible with ScanSnap and TWAIN scanners.
Broken into percentages, the market share of Google Apps connected scanners are:
1. ScanSnap 31.9%
2. HP Scanjet 22.4%
3. Canon LiDE 15.7%
4. Xerox Documate 13.3%
5. Epson 5.2%
6. Fujitsu Fi 4.8%
7. Visioneer 4.3%
8. Kodak 2.4%
